Copyright & reuse

A community project with reserved rights: how to read, share, quote and request permission to reuse material.

A community history, shared with care. Our original content is all rights reserved, with the limited reuse permissions below.

What this notice covers

All rights are reserved in original, copyrightable material owned by the Aguri Heritage project, including its original writing, editorial material and code, except where a specific licence says otherwise. Contributors retain ownership of their work. This notice does not claim ownership of the community’s history, facts, ideas, public-domain works or material owned by others. For AI-generated illustrations, only rights recognised by applicable law are reserved.

Reading, links and quotations

You may read the site, share links, and download or print project-owned material for private personal study. You may quote limited passages for noncommercial discussion or review, using only what that purpose reasonably needs. Credit Aguri Heritage and any named author, link to the original page, preserve the meaning and retain relevant notices.

These permissions do not cover wholesale or systematic copying that substitutes for an article or the site. They do not limit fair dealing, fair use or other uses allowed by applicable law, or rights under an existing licence.

Reuse that needs permission

For protected project-owned material, obtain written permission before full republication, bulk copying, a mirror site, publishing translations or commercial reuse, unless the law or an existing licence already permits it. Credit alone is not permission. Using our name or logo to suggest that another website is official or endorsed is not authorised by these reuse permissions.

Send a private rights or reuse enquiry with the page or item, the intended use and where it will appear. We can only grant rights we hold; contributor-owned work may need its owner’s separate permission.

Third-party and historical material

Photographs credited under Creative Commons, fonts under their supplied licences, historical scans and other third-party material retain their own rights status and terms. Follow the item’s credit, source and licence. A scan’s presence here does not itself grant reuse permission. This notice cannot withdraw a valid earlier public licence, including a Creative Commons licence, from someone complying with it.

Contributions and rights concerns

We welcome memories, sources and corrections under our contributor terms. To report a rights concern, use the private enquiry form and identify the material, your relationship to the rights holder and the requested action. Contact details and rights correspondence are for private editorial handling, not public contribution credit.
